FlightScope Mevo Gen2 vs Garmin R10: Entry-Level Launch Monitor Comparison

The FlightScope Mevo Gen2 and the Garmin Approach R10 are the two most common entry-level launch monitors in the Cero Golf bundle range. The Garmin R10 retails at AED 2,769 and the Mevo Gen2 at AED 6,120. Both track the core ball flight data you need for practice and simulator play, but they differ in tracking technology, data depth, software compatibility, and running costs in ways that matter depending on how you plan to use the unit.

Cero Golf supplies both devices as launch monitor options across the Anywhere Golf Simulator Bundle range. The Garmin R10 is the starting option for the Par Bundle from AED 14,299. The Mevo Gen2 is available across the Par, Birdie, and Eagle tiers and starts the Eagle Bundle configuration from AED 40,899. Both are available for simulator bundles shipped across the UAE and GCC.

How Each Device Tracks the Ball

The Garmin R10 uses dual-band Doppler radar only. It tracks the ball by measuring the Doppler shift of radio waves bouncing off the ball in flight. This is a reliable approach, but pure radar cannot directly measure spin. The R10 calculates spin rate from ball flight data rather than measuring it directly. For improved spin accuracy, Garmin recommends using Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x balls with Radar Capture Technology (RCT) markings, which the radar can read more precisely. RCT balls cost more than standard practice balls and are an ongoing expense.

The Mevo Gen2 uses FlightScope Fusion Tracking: a combination of 3D Doppler radar and a built-in camera that processes data simultaneously. The camera component gives the device an independent source of ball data beyond what the radar alone captures, which improves spin measurement and overall indoor tracking reliability without requiring specialised balls.

Data Parameters

The R10 measures 14 parameters: ball speed, club speed, launch angle (vertical and horizontal), spin rate, spin axis, apex height, carry distance, total distance, side deviation, flight time, club face angle, club path, angle of attack, and smash factor. These cover the core data points for understanding and improving ball flight. There are no upgrade options to expand the parameter set on the R10.

The Mevo Gen2 measures 18 parameters as standard, including putting data for launch speed, total distance, and ball direction. The optional Pro Package (a one-time purchase, no subscription) adds 11 club-level parameters: club path, face to path, face to target, dynamic loft, vertical swing plane, horizontal swing plane, low point, vertical descent angle, curve, club speed profile, and club acceleration profile. The Face Impact Location add-on shows strike location on the clubface. With all upgrades the Mevo Gen2 delivers 30 or more parameters, including the full D-Plane dataset used in professional coaching.

For casual simulator play, the R10's 14 parameters are sufficient. For structured practice, coaching, or data-driven improvement, the Mevo Gen2's upgradeable data set is a meaningful advantage.

Software and Simulator Compatibility

Both devices work with E6 Connect and GSPro. The differences are in how they connect and what is included at no additional cost.

The Mevo Gen2 connects directly to E6 Connect on PC and iOS. The purchase includes a lifetime licence for 8 E6 Connect courses. It connects natively to GSPro on PC with no bridge software required. It also works with Creative Golf 3D, Awesome Golf, and The Golf Club 2019. None of these integrations require a subscription.

The R10 connects to E6 Connect through the Garmin Golf app and includes 5 free courses on iOS. PC support is available. The R10 is not compatible with E6 Connect on Android or Mac. GSPro integration works but requires a third-party API bridge connector rather than a direct plug-and-play connection. For course play on the R10's native Home Tee Hero platform (43,000 virtual courses), a Garmin Golf Membership costs USD 99.99 per year or USD 9.99 per month.

Over a three-year period, a Garmin R10 with an active Golf Membership costs approximately USD 900 in hardware plus USD 300 in subscriptions: USD 1,200 total. A Mevo Gen2 with no subscription costs USD 1,299 total. The gap narrows considerably when you factor in ongoing costs. Adding the Mevo Gen2 Pro Package (approximately USD 200 more at purchase) brings the all-in cost to USD 1,499 with no further fees.

Indoor Performance

The Mevo Gen2 requires a minimum of 8 feet between the device and the ball and 8 feet from ball to impact screen, for a total minimum room depth of around 16 feet. Its Fusion Tracking camera helps maintain accuracy in low-light indoor environments where pure radar can struggle. The portrait orientation raises the radar sight line and improves tracking for chips and short shots.

The R10 requires a minimum of 6 feet from device to ball and 8 feet from ball to net, for a total minimum of around 14 to 15 feet. For tighter indoor spaces this gives the R10 a marginal advantage on minimum depth. However, without camera assistance, the R10's tracking can be less consistent indoors, particularly for spin data and shorter shots. Outdoors, the R10's weather resistance (IPX7 waterproof) and lighter weight (5.2 oz vs 17.6 oz for the Mevo Gen2) make it the more portable option.

Which Device Suits Which Buyer

The Garmin R10 is a practical choice for buyers focused on casual simulator play and course entertainment at the lowest entry price. The subscription cost for Home Tee Hero is worth considering upfront, but the USD 599.99 hardware price is the lowest in the Cero Golf bundle range and puts a full simulator setup within reach for a wider group of buyers. It is also the lighter and more weather-resistant unit, which suits golfers who want to use the device outdoors as well as in a home setup.

The Mevo Gen2 suits buyers who want a deeper practice tool alongside simulator play. The combination of more standard parameters, the Pro Package upgrade path, and no ongoing subscription costs makes it a stronger long-term investment for anyone serious about using data to improve. Its indoor tracking reliability is higher than the R10's, and the native GSPro and E6 Connect integrations require no additional setup. For a buyer setting up a dedicated home simulator used year-round, the Mevo Gen2 is the more capable device at its price point.

Neither device is a compromise. They serve different needs at different price points, and both are well-matched to the spaces and use cases the Anywhere Golf Bundle enclosures are designed for.
