How the Foresight GCHawk Works
The GCHawk mounts to the ceiling above the hitting area and uses four high-speed cameras plus infrared object tracking to observe the ball and clubhead from above. Those cameras capture thousands of frames per second around the moment of impact, giving the system direct measurements of ball and club behaviour rather than estimations derived from tracking ball flight through the air.
This distinction matters indoors. Radar-based launch monitors track the ball through its initial flight path and calculate spin, launch angle, and club delivery from that trajectory. Outdoors, where the ball travels hundreds of yards, that approach works well. Indoors, where the ball travels 10 to 15 feet before hitting the screen, radar has limited flight data to work from. The GCHawk captures everything it needs in the first few inches of ball travel, which is why photometric systems are the preferred technology for commercial simulator installations.
No marked balls are needed for ball data. Standard range balls or premium balls work without any preparation. Club stickers (small reflective fiducials placed on the clubface) are required only when the full club delivery data package is active.
